Workshops

Tools to Bring:  In most cases, everything necessary to complete a project will be provided for you for each Workshop.  If there are additional supplies or materials required, they will be listed in the Workshop Description and/or you will be provided with a list at the time of your registration.

  • Basic Craft Kit (BCK) – craft mat; scissors; paper trimmer; heat gun; favorite wet adhesives; ink blending tools; distress inks (Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Black Soot); ruler; pencil; paper or small notebook
  • Advanced Craft Kit (ACK) – everything from the Basic Craft Kit above, but also includes X-Acto knife; cutting mat; brayer; bone folder; water spritzer or mini mister; moist towelettes or baby wipes; wooden toothpicks; sanding block or emery boards; Crop-A-Dile; stapler; tape runner or glue sticks; pop-up dots.

Please note that photos of any Workshop project as seen on the Website, Blog, Facebook, or other social media may vary from the actual project.  As well, project samples may also vary from actual projects.  While we do our best to provide students with materials needed to create projects as they’ve been depicted, these revisions may be required due to changes in product or availability of products from manufacturers, and are outside our control.  It may also become necessary for a Teacher to alter the design of the actual project to accommodate these changes.

“The Sound of Music Canvas” Workshop with Jessica Madaglia

Join Jessica and prepare to get messy as she returns with another amazing project!  In this Workshop, you’ll splatter, smear, and smudge your way to beauty as you use a variety of collage mediums, embossing powders, inks, paints, and Distress Markers and Crayons to create a gorgeous 8″ x 10″ “exploding” canvas panel bursting at the seams with items from Tim Holtz.  Come and learn new techniques, or maybe just reinforce some you’ve used in the past.  When you’re done, no two finished panels will look alike, but everyone is guaranteed to leave with a completed piece.  Make your reservations early because SEATING IS LIMITED, so call now to save your space before it sells out!

“Mixed Media Canvas” Workshop with Gayl Staffler

Join Gayl as she returns with another gorgeous mixed media canvas!  Begin by creating a background on a 6″ x 6″ cradle-style canvas that will feature a bejeweled Relics and Artifacts heart.  Relics and Artifacts are those beautiful cast resin pieces created by Sandra Evertson (www.sandraevertson.com) that are just crying out to be decorated.  Enhance your project with the new Artisan Powders by Frank Garcia from Prima Marketing, as well as the new Finnabair Art Waxes and Sparks paints.  These new paints are sheer pastel, with colors to absolutely die for!  Gayl will also be sharing her own unique style of using everyday household items, such as nuts and bolts, to kick up your design.  She’ll also provide you with some tips and tricks about adding glitter, stones, and beads to your piece for just the right pizzazz, all of which promises to add up to a day of mixed media fun!  From beginning to end, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment and test techniques to see how they work with your personal crafting style.  Everything about this Workshop spells out fun, so call now to save your space it sells out!      SEATING IS LIMITED TO ONLY 8 students!

ATCs, or Artist Trading Cards, are all the rage!  Create 15 cards at home at your own pace, on your own schedule . . . all the same or each one different . . . based on your choice of four different themes.  Then join us at this monthly NO CHARGE event and have fun as you trade with other artists.  Pick just 1, or mix-and-match from 2, 3, or all 4 themes, but start “thinking big in a small way”.  From experienced to novice, you’ll definitely want to see what it’s all about for yourself!  Come and share with others, or just stop in and see what’s going on with other artists, ask questions, share information, have fun, or simply become inspired!  Call for more details, but we look forward to seeing you there!

“BYOP Double Waterfall Mini Album” Workshop with Sherry Bamsey

Friday, July 14, 2017           10:00am – 3:30pm            Cost: $35.00

Join Sherry as she returns with the next installment in her extremely popular BYOP Mini Album Series!  You’ll find all the necessary chipboard, cardstock, and seam binding in your choice of color to complete your basic album supplied in your project kit, ready for you to decorate with your favorite patterned paper.  This beautiful new album was inspired by Lori Parker Thomas, a Creative Design Member of Country Craft Creations, who has generously given Sherry permission to share this amazing big waterfall album.  Be sure to follow Lori on YouTube, Facebook, or Country Craft Creations.  Your finished album will be 9-1/4″ x 6-3/4″ designed to accommodate at least 40, 4″x6″ photos.  On the right inside cover, you’ll construct a large double waterfall that will have space for 23-24, 4″x6″ photos.  The left inside cover will have a large pocket flap that flips upwards, as well as two flaps held closed with a magnet.  The large pocket holds a large file-type folder.  To decorate your finished album, you’ll need at least 12 sheets of your favorite 12″x12″ papers (paper used in sample is PhotoPlay’s new collection, “Live Free”).  As with all of Sherry’s exciting Workshops, you’ll want to make your reservations early because SEATING IS LIMITED, and seats sell out fast!

“Under the Sea with Me” Workshop with Pollie Coleman

Have you ever visited your favorite beach, gathered shells, and brought them home sure you’d make projects with them, only to wonder where to start once you’re home?  Join Pollie in her newest Workshop and “dive” into a beautiful underwater world creating a whimsical octopus (or sea creature of your choice) from Paper Clay!  Your sea creature will be attached to a real shell and adorned with smaller shells, sea glass, other Shrinky Dink fish, plus seaweed fashioned from moss.  Learn the techniques on how to use Paper Clay to shape and sculpt your underwater sea creature, as well as use and display all those shells you’ve been collecting for everyone to enjoy!  Everything you’ll need to decorate your project will be available in the Workshop, but if you have any special shells, coral, or other embellishments or items you’d like to add, please free to bring them with you.  Make your reservations early to be sure to save your seat for this fun-filled underwater adventure!

“The Magic of Alcohol Inks II” Workshop with Kathi Hofferth

Saturday, August 19, 2017           10:00am-3:00pm            Cost: $45.00

Join Kathi as you learn beginning techniques for creative play with Alcohol Inks!  Each student will learn the magic behind manipulating alcohol inks on various types of papers and surfaces, such as spontaneous ink flow, ink behavior, and free flow pouring.  Learn how to use many household tools to create some amazing effects!  You’ll leave the Workshop with paper samples using techniques that you’ll be able to use for cardmaking, scrapbooking, mixed media art, and jewelry making.  In addition, each student will also create a domino pendant and an 8″x10″ canvas art piece.  All supplies, except alcohol inks, will be provided for each student.  Call to save your space in this creative Workshop . . .  and dress for mess!

“Art Journal Folio” Workshop with Dina Wakley

Are you ready for an artful escape?  Join Dina as you create a unique and colorful Art Journal Folio.  You’ll start with a Tim Holtz idea-ology blank folio.  You’ll use gesso, paint, masks, and stencils to alter it using Dina’s stencils and acrylic paints.  Then you’ll create meaningful pages with paint, stamps, and stencils to go inside the folio.  You’ll add quotes and imagery that make your folio explode with color and meaning.  Unique and expressive, this will be a day full of art techniques with a beautiful project as the end results.  You’ll want to make your reservations early because SEATING IS EXTREMELY LIMITED, and seats are beginning to fill already!  Call to save your space before it sells out!

“Art Journal Play: A Cut Above” Workshop with Dina Wakley

Dina’s “Art Journal Play” Workshops are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques.  The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages.  You’ll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed media projects (canvases, book making, etc.)
