Workshops

Tools to Bring:  In most cases, everything necessary to complete a project will be provided for you for each Workshop.  If there are additional supplies or materials required, they will be listed in the Workshop Description and/or you will be provided with a list at the time of your registration.

  • Basic Craft Kit (BCK) – craft mat; scissors; paper trimmer; heat gun; favorite wet adhesives; ink blending tools; distress inks (Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Black Soot); ruler; pencil; paper or small notebook
  • Advanced Craft Kit (ACK) – everything from the Basic Craft Kit above, but also includes X-Acto knife; cutting mat; brayer; bone folder; water spritzer or mini mister; moist towelettes or baby wipes; wooden toothpicks; sanding block or emery boards; Crop-A-Dile; stapler; tape runner or glue sticks; pop-up dots.

Please note that photos of any Workshop project as seen on the Website, Blog, Facebook, or other social media may vary from the actual project.  As well, project samples may also vary from actual projects.  While we do our best to provide students with materials needed to create projects as they’ve been depicted, these revisions may be required due to changes in product or availability of products from manufacturers, and are outside our control.  It may also become necessary for a Teacher to alter the design of the actual project to accommodate these changes.

“Simple Abstract Painting” Workshop with Kina Laurent

Saturday, April 1, 2017           10:00am-4:00pm            Cost: $45.00

Feeling overwhelmed by the color wheel?  Tired of making muddy colors?  Wish painting could be simple and easy and still look dynamic and interesting?  Then come and join Kina in her new workshop where she’ll show you the simplest and easiest way to use one aspect of the color wheel, complimentary colors, to make dynamic abstract paintings.  Using a 1” foam brush, a catalyst tool, a 6×8 canvas panel board, along with some water, you’ll create 6 paintings that can be individual masterpieces or a collage of abstracts ready to adorn the walls of your home.  Complimentary colors can play nice together when applied with the right techniques.  This workshop will be full of fun and play designed for both new and seasoned painters as we can all benefit from learning new painting techniques and color play.  Leave feeling confident in your understanding of complimentary colors so you can play, have fun, and explore colors without all the muddy brown “whoopsies”.  No experience required.  Make your reservations early because SEATING IS LIMITED TO 8 students only.   Call today to save your space!

Supplies to Bring:  Craft sheet; heat tool; water can/bucket (to clean brushes); and apron.  Bring your favorite acrylic paints/colors, if desired.  All other supplies and materials will be provided.

“Boho Wrap Bracelet” Silver Smithing & Soldering Workshop with Carol Rose

Saturday, April 8, 2017           10:30am-3:30pm            Cost: $75.00

Carol Rose returns with another action packed Workshop!  Have you ever wanted to learn how to solder with sterling silver?  Now’s your chance to create this gorgeous Boho-style wrap bracelet, while learning some new soldering skills.  You’ll learn how to solder .925 sterling silver, a very different material than from any of Carol’s previous micro torch Workshops.  Carol will be setting up a mini studio with all the soldering and finishing tools you’ll need for silver smithing for creating your beautiful pieces.  This will be a hands-on Workshop, so you’ll be sharing tools and making lots of noise, just as you would in a permanent studio set up.  You’ll begin by forging your heart from sterling silver, then soldering and hammering it to create it’s unique finish.  You’ll also make the jump rings to attach your heart and wire wrap the leather straps to complete your bracelet while learning new finishing skills, too.  The leather you’ll be using will be made of deerskin for that dreamy kind of softness that feels like heaven against your skin.  Don’t wait to call to save your seat, because with SEATING LIMITED TO ONLY 8 students, it won’t take long to sell out!

Supplies to Bring:  Basic set of jewelry tools including round nose pliers, tapered flat nose pliers, and flush cutter pliers (side cutter/wire snips) (available at local craft stores; see photo below).  All other tools, supplies, and materials will be provided, as well as a light lunch and refreshments.
